About Stourbridge Yoga

Welcome to my website, my name is Siobhan and I’ve been running Stourbridge Yoga since 2007. Yoga, meditation and chanting bring many benefits to my life and it is a joy to teach and share these tools with my students. I can honestly say my practice keeps me grounded in all the ups and downs of life, I’m not sure how anyone survives modern life and being human without a form of self-practice to steady them!

I started Yoga when I was 19 just because it seemed less hard work than the average gym class and I thought it may be good for me to exercise. It wasn’t a great first experience but I still felt curious and tried again after moving to London. There I found a small class with a teacher who inspired me and that started my love of Yoga. I soon realised it was the highlight of my stressful working week and it was somehow keeping me sane! After returning back home to the Midlands I started to train, firstly for my own fascination of the practice and philosophy, and then to teach, I’ve not really stopped training since!

I’ve trained to to teach group classes, qualifying as a BWY (British Wheel of Yoga) teacher in 2009. I then completed the Art of Individual Teaching with Dave Charlton and Ranju Roy of Sadhana Mala in 2011. I’ve always continued my studies with various courses over the years, mainly in the Viniyoga tradition with the same teachers and make sure I’m learning and informing my own practice constantly. More recently I’ve been training with Sheela Shankar through Sadhana Mala developing my Vedic Chanting, and also with The Mindfulness Network to teach 8 week mindfulness courses and support my own meditation practice. With the excellent teachers I’ve studied with and my years of teaching experience I feel able to adapt to what each of my students needs from me, making sure each student is well cared for.
